Flair confirms GDL, PVR operating; recovery flights added
Flair Airlines says Guadalajara (GDL) and Puerto Vallarta (PVR) are operating today, and the carrier has added recovery flights to help bring passengers home following recent disruptions tied to security incidents in Mexico.
The update comes after Feb. 22 reports of burning vehicles and roadblocks in parts of Mexico, including Jalisco state, which includes Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. Tourists and residents were advised to shelter in place amid cartel-related violence.
Flair said seats have been quickly filled with passengers rebooked after earlier cancellations related to the situation.
The airline added that all booked passengers from earlier cancelled days have been contacted and offered space on the new flights.
Flair also noted that the added flights are open to the public, as the carrier works through recovery options and as other airlines have also faced limited availability during the disruption.
As previously reported, as of Tuesday, Feb. 24, several Canadian carriers — including Air Transat, WestJet, Air Canada and Porter — resumed service to and from Puerto Vallarta after the temporary disruption.
Airlines have also kept flexibility measures in place for customers who want to change their booking.
