Etihad marks first Airbus A350 arrival in Toronto

Etihad Airways officially welcomed the arrival of its first Airbus A350, which touched down at Toronto Pearson airport (YYZ) on Sunday (Oct. 27).

Etihad’s daily service flights to Toronto will use the state-of-the-art Airbus A350. This route is one of the busiest in the airline’s network, consistently achieving over 90 per cent capacity, and has been re-timed to improve connectivity for travellers, the airline says.

The Airbus A350, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines, has a 25 per cent lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions compared to previous models.

It also features Etihad's latest cabin interior, offering elevated design and an exceptional travel experience.

The A350’s luxurious Business Class offers 44 seats with enhanced privacy, extensive in-flight entertainment, a carefully curated à la carte menu, and a seat that reclines into a lie-flat bed - ensuring travelers arrive in Abu Dhabi feeling refreshed.

Etihad now operates 42 flights per week to North America: twice daily to New York JFK, and daily to Boston, Chicago, Toronto, and Washington, DC.

Flights to Boston will expand to daily service starting November 1, just six months after the airline’s inaugural flight to the city.

“We have seen significant demand on our Boston and Toronto routes. This expanding capacity gives our North American corporate and leisure travellers greater choice and flexibility when planning trips to the UAE and beyond to the Gulf region and the Indian subcontinent,” said Etihad’s Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer Arik De in a press release.

De added that the introduction of the A350 to Toronto, and expanding to daily services to Boston, reflect “our ambitious growth plans in 2024,” which is set to take another leap at the end of November “when we announce an exciting lineup of new destinations.”
