Etihad to launch first-ever nonstop Abu Dhabi–Calgary flights
Etihad Airways will launch the first-ever nonstop flights between the UAE and Calgary on Nov. 3, 2026, creating a new air link between the Middle East and Western Canada.
The airline is positioning the route as a boost for trade, tourism, and investment, and as a new option for both business and leisure travellers.
The service links Abu Dhabi with Calgary, which Etihad describes as hubs for energy, innovation, and culture.
“The launch of our Abu Dhabi–Calgary service is both a significant and historic step in Etihad’s global expansion,” said Antonoaldo Neves, chief executive officer at Etihad Airways.
Neves added that the route connects two “distinctive and globally important destinations,” giving Canadian travellers direct access to Abu Dhabi’s cultural attractions and year-round experiences, while offering travellers from the UAE and across Etihad’s network seamless access to Calgary and Western Canada’s natural landscapes.
“It is a route designed to stimulate two-way tourism and deepen ties between our regions,” he said.
From the airport’s perspective, the new service is expected to expand Calgary’s global reach.
“Calgary Airports is proud to partner with Etihad Airways to link two great cities,” add Chris Dinsdale, president and CEO of Calgary Airports.
Flights will be operated by Etihad’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, featuring Business and Economy cabins.
The launch will expand Etihad’s North American network, complementing existing services to Toronto, New York and Chicago, as well as Charlotte, due to begin operations in March.
