Emirates, Porter announce interline agreement

Emirates and Porter Airlines have entered a new interline agreement, providing Canadians greater access to Dubai and broadening Toronto's network as a hub for travellers.

The new agreement allows passengers departing with Porter from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to connect with Emirates in either Boston or Washington en route to Dubai.

Don McWilliam, Emirates’ country manager for Canada, told PAX that the agreement will use Porter’s connections to expand the carrier's Canadian presence.

“Emirates is looking for additional opportunities for our customers to try [the airline's] services and products,” he said. “The Porter interline agreement makes the most sense for us, particularly in light of the fact that we have excellent connections with Porter, in Boston... Washington and New York… Porter and Emirates have a common strength in terms of a superior product offering. The service and the convenience is now going to be there for the consumers.”

Porter spokesperson Brad Cicero said that this latest agreement for the airline has “the chance to be one of our most successful partnerships to date.”

“It's a complimentary offering to our network,” Cicero told PAX. “Obviously, we don't fly overseas, so to give people in the Emirates network access to downtown Toronto, as well as to flights that are further in our own network is a great option."

The new interline agreement between Emirates and Porter is valid for tickets issued in First Class, Business and Economy, plus group travel. Porter offers up to eight daily roundtrip flights to Boston Logan Airport and up to four daily roundtrip flights to Washington Dulles International Airport.Tickets must be purchased through Emirates.
