CTA approves WestJet’s request to operate flights to Iceland

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has green lit a license for WestJet to operate scheduled international service between Canada and Iceland, PAX has learned.

The CTA, in an Oct. 18 determination, revealed that WestJet meets all of the applicable requirements for running flights to the Nordic island nation.

The agency is also satisfied that WestJet meets all the relevant conditions of Canada’s shared transportation agreement with Iceland.  

In issuing a license, the CTA emphasizes that WestJet’s request is still subject to the usual conditions, including those prescribed by Canada's Air Transportation Regulations.

WestJet's exact intentions for Iceland are currently unknown. The Calgary-based airline has yet to announce an official schedule.
