Coach tour reps bring the Maine attraction to Ontario

A team of representatives from the Maine Motor Coach Network spent the first week of May visiting tour companies throughout the province of Ontario and updating them on what the state has to offer.

The organization, dedicated to bringing more motor coach business to Maine, is made up of more than 120 businesses. The recent tour was organized through the New England Tourism Center based in Montreal.

According to Lisa Witt of the New England Tourism Center, the team visited agents across southern Ontario, from Hamilton to the Ottawa area and points in between. Cheryl Delisle, chair and organizer of the sales mission, said that “most tour operators received us with excitement, as we were offering many of them a new destination. Several times we heard that they were looking for something fresh for their new and repeat travellers.”

Witt added that in 2014, more than 4.2 million Canadians visited the state (counting daytrips and overnight stays), mainly drawn to opportunities for shopping and sightseeing, as well as culinary experiences ranging from fresh seafood to the local beer and wine offered across the state.
