CanJet Vacations highlights pricing & commission structure

CanJet Vacations is reminding travel agent partners that it pays commission on fuel and currency surcharges.

“We believe travel agents are working hard at brokering the sale on our behalf and they should be paid fairly for their efforts,” said John Kirk, vice-president, sales & marketing for CanJet Vacations.

In a release, the tour operator said it originally included the surcharges in the base price but was forced to change that policy "in order to remain competitive on pricing with other tour operators who do not add those charges in the base price. However, CanJet Vacations distinguished itself from the majority of other operators by paying commission on these surcharges."

“The charges are now split out of our price, but are commissionable to agents,” Kirk explained. He said that due to the shopping nature of the agency booking platforms and the online travel agency sites, the charges cannot be included in the base price or the package appears to be more expensive.

“We believe strongly in the value of the travel agent and we are happy to compensate them fully on everything except taxes,” the VP stated.

Kirk also wants to remind agents that currently, CanJet Vacations has reduced prices on all of its Dec. 18 – 22, 2014 departures by up to $500 per couple.

CanJet Vacations is available in SIREV, Sabre Vacations and Galileo.

All packages feature flights from Toronto with CanJet Airlines Boeing 737-800 aircraft, serving complimentary champagne, hot meal service, bar service and inflight entertainment with complimentary headsets. Agents can also upgrade their clients to CanJet Select and receive priority check in, complimentary seat selection, priority baggage handling and additional baggage allowance of up to 10kg per segment. CanJet Select guests also receive a Comfort Kit southbound and complimentary wine and alcoholic beverages during bar service.
