CanJet suspends flight operations

CanJet Airlines has suspended its flight operations immediately as the company revisits its business plan over the coming months.
In a statement to PAX, CanJet president Stephen Rowe said that flight operations were suspended “due to the unprofitability of operating only one airplane,” as the company determines “a go-forward business plan with moderate financial risk in this industry.”
Rowe said that CanJet will remain active due to maintenance obligations on four aircraft that are currently dry-leased with other airlines, which will be returned to their owners in May.
He added “if an opportunity arises between today and May 2016 that we feel has a good chance of success with moderate financial risk, we will pursue it and put aircraft back into the air.”
In May, the company announced that it was closing its tour operator subsidiary CanJet Vacations, after its launch in December 2014.
