Bomb threats against WestJet continue

Yet another bomb threat has been received against a WestJet flight this week, the fifth incident reported by the carrier since last Saturday.

WestJet reported the latest threat last night at approximately 7:20 p.m. EST, made against a flight from Las Vegas bound for Victoria, BC. The plane landed safely in Victoria and similar to the other incidents reported this week, a subsequent police inspection found no evidence of explosives. WestJet said that although police determined the threat was “not credible,” the screening was carried out as a precaution. The RCMP are proceeding with a criminal mischief investigation, WestJet said.

The carrier has weathered a series of similar incidents over the past week, starting with a threat made against an Edmonton-bound flight from Halifax on June 27.

Investigations into the threats continue and so far, no arrests have been made.
