Arajet surpasses one million passengers as Canada traffic grows

Arajet carried 36,138 point-to-point passengers between Canada and the Dominican Republic during the first half of 2026, an increase of 9.6 per cent compared with the same period last year.

The figures were reported by the Dominican Republic’s Civil Aviation Board (JAC).

Growth in the Canadian market contributed to Arajet’s strongest first half on record. 

The airline carried 922,593 passengers on flights to and from the Dominican Republic between January and June, according to JAC data.

Including more than 100,000 connecting passengers travelling through Arajet’s hubs in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, the airline transported more than one million passengers during the first half of the year.

Arajet said it is the first Dominican airline to surpass that milestone during the first six months of a calendar year.

Canada continues to be a strategic market for our international growth, and we remain committed to expanding travel opportunities and strengthening connectivity between Canadian travelers and destinations across the Americas," said Víctor Pacheco Méndez, founder and CEO of Arajet.

The carrier offers nonstop service between Canada and the Dominican Republic, along with onward connections to destinations in North, Central and South America and the Caribbean through its two Dominican hubs.

Arajet is continuing to expand its network and flight frequencies as it develops Santo Domingo and Punta Cana as connecting points for travel across the Americas.

The airline said its Canadian passenger growth reflects demand for lower-priced travel options and increased air service between Canada and the Dominican Republic.
