AMResorts breaks ground on Now Onyx Punta Cana

AMResorts and Apple Leisure Group hosted a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony on June 3 in anticipation for the opening of Now Onyx Punta Cana, a new addition to the company’s portfolio scheduled to open in November 2016.

Apple Leisure Group executives were joined by Danilo Medina, the President of the Dominican Republic, as well as other government officials to mark the occasion.

The 500-room resort will be located in the Uvero Alto region of Punta Cana along the Dominican Republic’s northeastern coast, next to its sister property Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa.

Upon opening later next year, Now Onyx Punta Cana will become the fifth resort for the award-winning Now Resorts & Spas brand. By that time, AMResorts will have nine properties in the Dominican Republic under five of its brands. The company currently has 37 resorts, with 11 additional hotels set to debut by 2018.
