Starting at the end of the 2026-27 winter season, Air Canada will operate one weekly flight between Montreal and Bridgetown, Barbados on Sundays.

By extending the route into the summer months, the carrier will provide better year-round connectivity between Quebec and Barbados.

The new service — a first in the airline’s history — is the result of sustained efforts to stimulate demand in Quebec through industry outreach, consumer marketing, targeted campaigns and partnerships with industry stakeholders, according to Eusi Skeete, director of Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) in Canada.

“This is a milestone moment for Barbados that speaks to the strength of our partnership with Air Canada,” he said in a statement. “This partnership spans more than 76 years, and this milestone demonstrates what is possible when an airline and a destination work together with a shared commitment to growing the market.”

“This year-round service allows us to build on that momentum and continue converting interest in Barbados into actual visits. It is an important achievement for the destination, but more importantly, a platform for the next phase of growth,” he added.

Both Quebec consumers and travel advisors appear increasingly curious about discovering Barbados.

Beyond its beaches, the island attracts visitors with its history and culinary traditions. Historic Bridgetown and its Garrison have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, notes Visit Barbados.

Among the destination’s established annual events include the Barbados Food and Rum Festival, which returns in November.

The event aims to showcase the island’s celebrated culinary identity, bringing together renowned chefs, mixologists and local talent for a lively celebration of food.

The summer service from Montreal will be operated by Air Canada Rouge, using its 177-seat Boeing 737 MAX 8.
