Air Canada extends suspension of Israel flights to August

Air Canada has extended its suspension of flights to Israel, pushing back the planned resumption by another month to August.

The next flight from Toronto is now scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, and the next flight from Montreal is now scheduled for Monday, Aug. 12, 2024.

"Affected customers on Air Canada's flights to/from/via Tel Aviv between now and August 5, 2024, will be able to rebook to alternate flights if available, or obtain a travel credit or a full refund," the airline said in a statement.

The decision comes after Iran’s missile attack on Israel last month.

The Canadian airline had initially suspended flights until July, but the security situation has prompted a further delay.

The news follows a similar announcement by United Airlines last week, which postponed the resumption of its Israel flights to June.

Budget carrier easyJet also cancelled all flights to Israel until the end of October.

Air India is expected to resume service to Israel next week.
