Air Canada extends suspension of Dubai & Tel Aviv flights into 2027

Air Canada is continuing to suspend service to Dubai and Tel Aviv as the security situation in the Middle East remains uncertain.

The airline confirmed Tuesday (Aug. 4) that flights to and from Dubai (DXB) and Tel Aviv (TLV) will remain suspended through mid-January 2027, extending disruptions on two of its long-haul international routes.

The ongoing suspension reflects continued operational and safety considerations as instability in the region persists.

Air Canada has repeatedly adjusted its schedule in response to developments in the Middle East, with both destinations remaining off the airline's network while it monitors the evolving situation. The suspension was previously set to expire this fall on October 24.  

The airline has said it will continue to assess conditions before determining when service can safely resume.

Heightened travel advisories

In July, the Canadian government began advising citizens to "avoid non-essential travel" to five Middle Eastern countries as renewed conflict between the United States and Iran fuelled security concerns across the region.

Global Affairs Canada has, collectively, placed Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia under Orange (Level 3) advisories due to what it describes as a “volatile security situation.”

The change came roughly three weeks after Ottawa eased its advisories for Jordan and the UAE as regional tensions appeared to subside.

Canada also advises its citizens to avoid non-essential travel to Israel due to the "volatile security situation in the region."
