Air Canada extends Dubai flight suspension until May 1
(Air Canada)

Due to ongoing unrest in the Middle East, Air Canada’s Toronto-Dubai flights have been cancelled until at least May 1.

“We plan to reintroduce service gradually when flights can safely resume. We continue to add capacity to Delhi to provide travellers with options to Canada,” the airline wrote on its X account Friday (March 13).

Air Canada’s earlier suspension of its Dubai service was set to end on March 28.

Meanwhile, the airline’s route to Tel Aviv, Israel, is still suspended until at least May 2, 2026 (inclusive).

“If you are in either of these regions, please do not head to the airport. Your safety is our top priority,” Air Canada wrote in a statement posted to its website on March 13.

Earlier this month, Air Canada said it will double capacity to India as it adjusts its long-haul network in response to the ongoing airspace restrictions and safety issues in the Middle East.

"From March 7 to 21 we’re adding a frequency for double-daily Toronto-Delhi service and using larger aircraft on select Toronto-London-Mumbai flights to provide routing options,” the airline said on March 3.

It comes amid a wave of airline cancellations triggered by airspace closures across the Middle East, where tensions have escalated since Feb. 28, when strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran — followed by Iranian retaliation — ignited a sharp rise in regional violence.
