Uniglobe Canada hosts national conference, names Agency of the Year
Uniglobe Travel (Canada) hosted its annual conference this past weekend at the Westin Harbour Castle in downtown Toronto, gathering an audience of 260 travel agency owners, managers, travel advisors, and preferred supplier partners from across Canada.
The theme of the conference, "Navigating the Evolving Travel Industry," reverberated throughout the event.
Breakout sessions featured a variety of topics, including AI in the Travel Industry, Navigating Microsoft Teams in Your Office, Leisure & Airline panels, and GDS presentations from Amadeus and Sabre. A staple of the Uniglobe conferences, the supplier tradeshow, showcased over 60 exhibitors who presented their products to the Uniglobe group.
Dean Dacko, Uniglobe Travel (Canada) president, referenced in his address the 40-plus years of success that Uniglobe has enjoyed in Canada by acknowledging several of the agency partners who have been members for more than three decades.
The list included several agencies spread across the country led by Uniglobe Sunburst Travel in Dawson Creek, BC with 44 years, and Uniglobe The Premiere Travel Group in Ottawa and Toronto with 41 years as members of Uniglobe.
"Our unique value proposition continues to attract new agency partners that has resulted in a doubling of the size of our network in just the past 18 months,” he said.
Dacko also provided the audience with industry studies and insights on the evolution of 'best in class customer service delivery' through the adoption of AI, the growth of Bleisure Travel (combining a leisure component to a corporate reservation), as well as luxury and unique destination travel as the biggest trends in the future of the Canadian travel marketplace.
At the Saturday Gala Awards dinner, the prestigious Agency of the Year award is presented to the highest-performing Uniglobe Travel Management Company.
The selection criteria focus is on financial performance and stability, exceptional service, strong industry reputation, and a spirit of success that embodies the values of the Uniglobe organization.
This year's award went to Uniglobe Carefree Travel Group, located in Saskatoon, SK, under the leadership of Jamie Milton, the agency's president.
