The travel industry remembers Daryl McWilliams
Yesterday marked the untimely passing of Daryl McWilliams, a long-time member of the Canadian travel industry with a career spanning four decades.
A McMaster University alumnus, Daryl began his career at Sunflight Vacations in 1969. He later joined Skylark Holidays in the early 1970s before co-founding Paramount Holidays in 1981. He then co-founded Encore Cruises in 1991 before moving on to Nordic Cruises in the mid-90s.
Daryl joined Sunwing in 2004 in a sales management capacity and was later promoted to vice-president of sales & marketing, a position he held until 2012 before taking on the management of the retail division in the role of vice-president of business development. He also served with industry organizations such as CATO and TICO, serving as chair and vice-chair respectively.
Daryl is survived by his partner, Sharon, and three children, Deirdre, Erica and Neil.
