TICO warns consumers about unregistered travel agency in Ottawa

The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) is warning consumers not to purchase travel services from Ottawa, ON-based Jo Albe Travel Co Inc., saying the company is not registered with the provincial regulator and is not authorized to sell travel services in Ontario.

In a bulletin issued June 25, TICO said it has received multiple consumer complaints alleging that Jo Albe Travel Co Inc. acted as a travel agency without the required registration.

Complainants allege they paid the company for travel services that were never provided and that they did not receive refunds.

TICO has issued an Immediate Cease and Desist Notice to Jo Albe Travel Co Inc. and its directors, Riham Chakron, also known as Reham Shakron, and Jomaa Albelaas.

The notice orders them to immediately stop acting or representing themselves as travel agents in Ontario.

The regulator also confirmed that charges were laid against the company and its directors in March 2026. TICO alleges they continued operating without registration despite being informed of their legal obligations under Ontario's Travel Industry Act, 2002.

Consumers who have purchased travel services from Jo Albe Travel Co Inc., or who have information about the company's activities, are encouraged to contact TICO at 1-888-451-8426 or by email at tico@tico.ca.

TICO notes that it actively investigates and prosecutes unregistered companies and individuals to help protect consumers, maintain confidence in Ontario's travel marketplace and ensure fair competition for registered travel businesses.
