HOOKED Alcohol Free Travel unveils new “full sensory” itineraries

Just in time for Sober October, HOOKED: Alcohol Free Travel has announced a series of new travel experiences designed for those who choose to explore the world with a heightened state of awareness.

“We believe travel is not just about the places you go, but the person you become along the way,” said Darci Murray, founder of HOOKED, in a press release.

“With our latest offerings, we are redefining the travel experience to travel differently, fully, and authentically. We want our travellers to embrace Full Sensory Travel, where every moment is experienced with clarity and purpose. Our new itineraries are about discovering the best version of yourself—authentic experiences that lead to an authentic you."

Murray, notably, was named one of PAX’s “Most Fascinating” travel advisors of 2024, an annual list that’s released on Travel Advisor Day.

“It’s a great time to not drink"

Murray launched her idea in 2022 with a dry trip to Iceland, involving three close friends. What started as an option for people in recovery has since evolved into larger (but still intimate) trips, attracting various types of clientele.

“It’s a great time to not drink,” Murray told PAX earlier this year. “The whole mentality has switched, and the mocktail world has exploded with a vengeance.”

Murray said she was initially nervous about launching her concept, which operates as a wholesale entity under the umbrella of Personal Travel Management.

But the meaning behind it all soon took shape as Murray, and the market, unlocked a desire for what she calls “full-sensory travel.”

“It’s when you’re not numbing yourself [with alcohol] and being fully present to your senses,” she said.

People who eliminate booze from travel tend to “see more,” Murray told us.

And they come with different needs. “They start their days earlier, they finish earlier,” she says.

This is what makes a Hooked tour very immersive, and “very high energy.

New Alcohol-Free experience

Kicking off in May 2025, HOOKED will host an alcohol-free wine tour in Germany, a country that is leading the way in alcohol-free wine production.

This one-of-a-kind itinerary is designed for those who love the idea of a wine tour without the alcohol, offering a unique opportunity to explore Germany’s rich wine culture in a new, refreshing way.

Priced from $5,960 per person for 8 days/7 nights, a preview of the full itinerary can be found here.

Dry grad tours

Hooked’s new Dry Grad Tours are perfect for young adults looking to celebrate their achievements without the focus and/or peer pressure to consume alcohol.

The first-ever Dry Grad trip will take place in Thailand in 2025, starting with an alcohol-free host in Bangkok and journeying through Ko Tao, Krabi, and ending in Chiang Mai.

The trip concludes with a meaningful volunteer experience at an elephant sanctuary. This itinerary, developed in partnership with Volunteer World, offers young travelers a chance to connect, give back, and celebrate responsibly.  Priced from $5,145 per person for 17 days/16 nights. Details here.

Sober local tours

Inspired by the 'Tours by Locals' concept, HOOKED’s Sensory Heightened Local Tours provide city explorations led by sober locals who share their favorite alcohol-free hotspots.

These tours offer a unique way to discover a city through the eyes of someone who knows the best places to enjoy without the influence of alcohol.

Destinations include San DiegoNew York City,  (during the holiday season), Nashville, Las VegasSayulita, Mexico and others.

Alaska cruise

In July 2025, HOOKED will host its first major travel event with a post-AA World Convention cruise to Alaska.

Departing from Vancouver, this inside passage cruise with Princess Cruises is a fantastic opportunity for the 70,000 alcohol-free individuals expected to attend the convention to continue their journey in a fun, alcohol-free environment.

Although not affiliated with AA, this cruise offers a perfect post-convention adventure for those looking to travel sober. Priced from $915 per person for 8 days/7 nights.  Full itinerary is here.

“At HOOKED: Alcohol Free Travel, we believe that full-proof travel leads to full-proof living, where authentic experiences lead to an authentic you,” Murray said.
